Swallowed

Forever drifting further from each others

We wander lost, estranged, beyond the borders

Detached, awry, we're floating out of sight

Propelled away, escaping warmth and light

Retreating to the outer wastes so cold

Surrounded by a smell of dust and mold

These unknown forces draw us in for good

And existential dread becomes the mood

Familiar voices scream and scold aloud

By silence amplified, by fear allowed

In fits of woe we're slowly brought to heels

A poison from within that never kills

A moth who's withered wings now fail and tire

Beyond the reach of any mortal fire

In darker realms so far above the ground

Where nay a spark or flash is to be found

Aloof in isolation letting go

Destroyed, devoid of any shine or glow

Chaotic winds in circles gather round

The agonizing neverending sound

A thousand dying screams...

Still grasping at the seams

Of all bygone delight

Of times so full and bright

Forever out of reach...
